Derricka Destiny is the author of The Path Isn’t Linear, a heartfelt guide for navigating life after foster care. Drawing from her own experiences, she combines practical tools with personal reflections to support young adults as they transition into independence. While the book includes a few stories, its focus is on guidance. While, offering clarity, encouragement, and real-life strategies for those forging their own path.
An aspiring speaker and storyteller, Derricka is passionate about creating conversations around post-foster care life and the systems that impact it. She is committed to using her voice to uplift, inform, and inspire lasting change.
Outside of writing, she enjoys painting and taking walks around the lake. Simple routines that help her stay grounded and connected. Known for her optimism, creativity, and depth, Derricka’s goal is to continue to be a positive force in the world by helping others feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
